UNCTAD New York Chief Chantal Line Carpentier to Speak at ICSB 2016

About UNCTAD

Within the United Nations, UNCTAD is responsible for issues such as trade, development, entrepreneurship, and finance, as well as the science and technology associated with development. UNCTAD uses its research to make policy recommendations to national, regional and global leaders.

The New York office ensures that the leading edge research and technical assistance developed by UNCTAD informs the New York based intergovernmental processes. About Dr. Carpentier

Dr. Carpentier got her start in development in field assignments in the Brazilian Amazon, in Oaxaca and Chiapas in Mexico, and rural Peru. Before joining UNCTAD, she worked as Sustainable Development Officer in the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, and she managed Major Groups Engagement in the Rio+20 Conference. Dr. Carpentier holds a PhD from Virginia Tech and a Masters and B.Sc. from McGill. In 2006, she was named as a Yale World Fellow. She has completed several marathons and Ironman competitions, and she holds a black belt in karate.

Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding CEO Naguib Sawiris to Speak at ICSB 2016

How do you build Egypt’s largest private sector employer and become a billionaire in the process? Naguib Sawiris knows. Mr. Sawiris, Executive Chairman and CEO of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding, is scheduled to speak at the 61st ICSB World Conference.

About Naguib Sawiris

Mr. Sawiris joined Orascom, his family’s business, in 1979. He helped build the company into one of Egypt’s largest businesses. Mr. Sawaris founded Orascom Telecom Holding in the late 1990s. Under his leadership, the company became the principal regional telecom provider. In 2011, OTH merged with Vimpelcom Ltd, creating what was then the world’s sixth largest mobile telecommunications provider, with 181 million subscribers across 20 countries.

In addition to serving as Executive Chairman and CEO of Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding., Mr. Sawiris is also the Chairman of the Board of Orascom TMT Investments S.à r.l. and the Chairman of La Mancha Inc.

Mr. Sawiris is the recipient many awards, including France’s highest honor, the “Legion d’honneur,“ the “Stella della Solidarietà Italiana” from Italy, and the “Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam” award from Pakistan.
