It’s official. Ambassador Oh Joon is slated to speak at the 61st ICSB World Conference to be held form June 15th – 18th, 2016.

Ambassador Oh Joon is the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations in New York.

Currently, his excellency is serving as the President of the Economic and Social Council. Ambassador Joon also serves as the President of the Conference of States’ Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Previously, Ambassador Joon served as President of the Security Council from 2013-2014.

In his positions, Ambassador Joon has been an active leader on behalf of the United Nations on a variety of important issues involving relations between North Korea and it’s neighbors South Korea, China, and Russia. Most recently, Ambassador Joon spoke out about the need for governments to work together to realize and mitigate disasters caused by climate change and El Nino.

Global policymakers must act urgently. El Niño is jeopardizing, and even reversing, the gains made in development. Our immediate priority must be to reduce the impact of the El Niño phenomenon on key development sectors and to put countries back on a path to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). By reducing the impact of extreme weather conditions, we can help countries achieve these goals. – Ambassador Oh Joon, May 11, 2016

Founded in 1955, the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) was the first international membership organization to promote the growth and development of small businesses worldwide. The organization brings together educators, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners from around the world to share knowledge and expertise in their respective fields. Each year, ICSB members and affiliates come together to discuss relevant issues and share information at conferences all around the world.

This year, ICSB World Conference will take place at multiple locations in New York and New Jersey. We will start at NYU on June 15th and then on June 16th at the United Nations to be followed at Stevens Institute of Technology on June 17th and 18th. Registration is open to the public, but limited and expected to sell out. ICSB 2016 will focus on the role of entrepreneurship and innovation in advancing the UN New Sustainable Development Goals.
